How a shift works

Open the app, run the list, go home

We built the driver app around one idea: route workers should never have to guess what to do next.

01

Claim a route

Open the Garbage Drop driver app the night before. Accept the route assignment for tomorrow. Done.

02

Follow the pin list

Every stop is a pin with notes — gate codes, bin placement, preferred spot. Navigate with one tap.

03

Scan & snap

Scan the QR at each stop, take a quick photo, flag anything weird. That's the whole check-in.

04

Get paid weekly

Payments hit your bank every Friday for the previous week's routes. Tips auto-included.

Why drivers stick around

No customers yelling at you. No weird hours. Just the route.

💸

Weekly direct deposit

Pay hits every Friday for last week's routes. Tips and OnDemand bonuses included automatically.

🗓

Set your own days

Pick up 1 route a week or 5. As long as you commit the night before, the schedule is yours.

🌅

Early, then done

Most routes run 5–8 AM. Finish your shift before the coffee line at Starbucks dies down.

🚐

Use your own vehicle

Any pickup truck, SUV, or hatchback works. Gas reimbursed at standard mileage rate.

📸

App does the thinking

QR check-ins, photo proof, and issue flags are built in. No paperwork, no timesheets.

Is this a fit?

Be honest about whether you'd like this work

This job is simple. It's also physical, early, and outdoors. Here's the honest split.

You'll like this if you…

  • Are okay with 5–8 AM starts a few days a week
  • Can lift 40–50 lbs comfortably
  • Have a reliable vehicle (truck / SUV / hatch)
  • Want short, predictable, repeatable shifts
  • Prefer working alone or with minimal contact
  • Like checking a list off quickly and leaving

Maybe skip this if you…

  • Don't want to work outside in rain, cold, or heat
  • Want 9-to-5 set hours
  • Can't lift a full can up a driveway
  • Want a fixed annual salary + benefits package
  • Are looking for a career path into management
  • Don't have a smartphone with a camera

FAQ

What drivers actually ask

Am I an employee or an independent contractor?

Independent contractor. You receive a 1099 at year end. You set your own schedule within posted route windows.

How soon can I start after applying?

Typical turnaround is 5–10 days: background check (2–5 days), a short ride-along with a current route worker, and then your first solo shift.

Do I need a commercial license or special permits?

No. A standard driver's license, clean MVR, and a reliable personal vehicle are all we require.

How are tips handled?

Tips flow directly to you — 100%. They're aggregated into your weekly direct deposit, not held back.

What if a bin is too heavy or there's a gate I can't get through?

Flag it in the app with one of the preset reasons. You get paid for the stop; our ops team resolves the access issue with the customer.

Do you cover injury on the job?

As an IC you're responsible for your own coverage, but we carry general liability insurance for incidents at stops. Details are covered at onboarding.

Can I drive in nearby cities once those open?

Yes — as we expand beyond Franklin/Simpson County, current drivers get first shot at new zones.
